OpenAI’s June 2026 confidential S-1 filing and $852 billion March private valuation set the baseline for an IPO targeting $1 trillion or higher, driven by rapid revenue expansion to a roughly $24 billion annualized run rate and enterprise adoption above 40 percent of sales. Persistent operating losses projected near $14 billion in 2026 and breakeven only after 2029 reflect heavy compute spending and competitive pressure from Anthropic, whose higher private mark underscores valuation sensitivity. Recent C-suite departures add execution risk ahead of potential Q4 2026 or 2027 pricing, where market-implied odds will hinge on sustained growth metrics, regulatory clearance, and broader tech multiples rather than historical precedent.
