The 2026 Big 12 rushing yards race remains tightly bunched among more than two dozen candidates because the conference returns multiple proven backs with comparable workloads and supporting offenses heading into the early slate. Preseason consensus highlighted returning standouts such as LJ Martin at BYU alongside transfers and holdovers including Cameron Dickey, Wayshawn Parker, Caleb Hawkins, Cam Cook, and Dylan Edwards, each backed by strong offensive lines and dual-threat quarterbacks. Week 1 results have shown distributed production rather than breakout dominance, with early leaders like Jeremy Payne at TCU and contributions from Micah Welch and Wayshawn Parker reflecting shared carries and situational usage. This depth, combined with variable game scripts and injury risk across a 16-team league, sustains the even implied probabilities reflected in current market pricing.
