Reports from May indicated US claims of Iranian agreement in principle on surrender or downblending, yet senior Iranian officials denied any commitment to hand over the stockpile or relinquish domestic enrichment rights, citing it as a sovereign red line. Ongoing technical talks and a fragile ceasefire have advanced verification mechanisms without resolving core disputes over zero stockpiling versus continued low-level enrichment. These dynamics shape trader consensus on the low probability of a public pledge by the August 31 deadline, with any breakthrough hinging on final diplomatic concessions before month-end.
