The primary driver shaping trader sentiment on the US Dollar Index (DXY) for the week of September 14, 2026, is the Federal Reserve’s two-day FOMC meeting concluding September 16, with markets pricing a roughly 90% implied probability of a 25 basis point hike from the current 3.5–3.75% federal funds target. Recent August CPI data showing a 0.4% monthly rise and 3.4% year-over-year headline inflation, alongside sticky core readings and firm payrolls of +162,000, have reinforced expectations of tighter policy amid elevated oil prices from geopolitical tensions. DXY currently trades near 99.10, consolidating below its 200-day moving average after earlier swings. Key near-term catalysts include Wednesday’s retail sales release and any hawkish signals on the rate path versus other major central banks, which could influence short-term yield differentials and dollar demand.
