Tyler Robinson faces aggravated murder charges in Utah for the September 2025 fatal shooting of conservative activist Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University. Prosecutors presented DNA evidence linking him to the rifle and casings, surveillance footage tracking his movements, eyewitness accounts, and statements described as confessions during a five-day preliminary hearing that concluded in July 2026. Defense efforts to challenge the evidence and remove the death penalty option have not succeeded to date, with closing arguments on probable cause scheduled for September 1, 2026. The 68% implied probability for conviction reflects trader assessment of the case strength and likelihood of a trial resulting in a guilty verdict under Utah’s aggravated murder statutes, though the outcome remains subject to judicial rulings, plea negotiations, or trial developments.
