Temporary, interim, or placeholder mayors appointed before the election will not be considered. If the result of this election isn't known by June 30, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, the market will resolve to "Other". The primary resolution source for this market will be a consensus of credible reporting; however, if there is any ambiguity in the results, this market will resolve according to official information from Pickering, Ontario.Kevin Ashe, the incumbent mayor, holds the strongest position in the Pickering mayoral race ahead of the October 26 vote, supported by his 2022 victory, family political legacy in the city, and emphasis on job creation, infrastructure, and growth. Nominations closed August 21 with a fragmented field that includes returning challenger Janice Frampton, councillor Lisa Robinson (facing prior misconduct sanctions and pay suspensions), and others such as Doug Cornell, Shaun Rickard, Zargham Rasool, and Andrea Wood. Recent developments, including backlash over an August email urging withdrawals to favor a candidate of colour, have not materially altered the contest. Traders price Ashe as the clear leader while assigning lower probabilities to the divided opposition.
