The 2026 Hannover Region presidential election is scheduled to be held on September 13, 2026, to elect the president of the Hannover Region. A runoff election is scheduled for September 27, 2026, if no candidate receives at least half of the valid votes in the first round. This market will resolve according to the candidate who becomes the next president of the Hannover Region as a result of this election. Temporary, interim, or placeholder regional presidents appointed before the election will not be considered. If the result of this election isn't known by April 30, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, the market will resolve to “Other.” The primary resolution source for this market will be a consensus of credible reporting; however, if there is any ambiguity in the results, this market will resolve according to official information from the Region Hannover and the relevant election authorities of Lower Saxony.Eva Bender leads trader consensus at 71% for the September 13, 2026, direct election of the Region Hannover president, with a possible September 27 runoff, reflecting the SPD's regional incumbency advantage after Steffen Krach's decision not to seek re-election and her nomination as the party's candidate. Bender, currently the city's Bildungs- und Kulturdezernentin with prior administrative roles in Langenhagen and elsewhere, benefits from established SPD organizational strength and local governance experience. Oliver Junk trails at 22% as the CDU nominee, drawing on his decade as Goslar mayor and legal expertise, though his selection followed an internal party vote in February 2026. The remaining field of nine approved candidates, including Sinja Münzberg of the Greens and Nicolas Lehrke of the AfD, fragments support and reinforces the two-party dynamic in current pricing.
