California's 14th congressional district conducted its June 2, 2026, top-two primary to fill the open U.S. House seat. State Senator Aisha Wahab, a Democrat with prior endorsement from the state party, led partial returns with roughly 37 percent of the vote. Fellow Democrat Melissa Hernandez followed at about 17 percent, while Republican Wendy Huang stood near 15 percent. The district's strong Democratic registration and voting history have concentrated attention on which two candidates advance to the November general election under the nonpartisan primary rules. A separate special primary is scheduled for June 16 in the same district.
