The Bank of Mexico's explicit forward guidance for maintaining its 6.50% policy rate underpins the 97.7% market-implied odds of no change at the September meeting. Following the May 2026 easing cycle close, unanimous holds in June and August reflected gradual headline inflation convergence near 3.1-3.26% alongside persistent core pressures around 3.93%, with risks skewed upward from geopolitical tensions, potential U.S. trade policy shifts, and services inflation. Recent deputy governor comments reinforced the restrictive stance as appropriate amid these dynamics, aligning with private-sector forecasts for stability through year-end. A sharper-than-expected inflation decline or pronounced growth slowdown could introduce limited volatility, though the board's emphasis on consolidation makes near-term deviation improbable.

Increases or decreases of less than 25 bps will be rounded to 25 bps (e.g. an increase or decrease of 10 bps would be considered to be an increase or decrease of 25 bps). Increases or decreases of greater than 25 bps will be rounded to the nearest 25 bps and will be rounded away from 0 in cases of equidistance (e.g., an increase or decrease of 37.5 bps would be considered to be an increase or decrease of 50 bps). Displayed options of “Increase” or “Decrease” will include policy rate increases or decreases of any size.
If the specified meeting is postponed to a date and time before the start of the next scheduled meeting, this market will resolve based on the outcome of that postponed meeting.
