The Democratic primary for Minnesota's open U.S. Senate seat features a tight contest in Hennepin County, where Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan and Rep. Angie Craig lead a field that also includes several lesser-known candidates. Recent polls show the statewide race nearly even or with Flanagan holding a modest edge, reflecting divided support between Flanagan's progressive platform and party endorsements versus Craig's emphasis on pragmatic middle-class policies and fundraising strength. Heavy outside spending favoring Craig has not yet shifted voter preferences decisively, while the August 11 primary date leaves little time for late developments such as turnout among urban DFL voters or shifts in local endorsements to create separation. Trader prices near even money across multiple outcomes capture this uncertainty in the county's vote share, where endorsement momentum and campaign resources remain the primary variables that could alter the result before ballots close.
