Brazil's Attorney General announced on August 6, 2026, plans to file a civil action seeking to block Discord nationwide after a 13-year-old girl's alleged suicide during a livestream involving self-harm content viewed by minors. This push follows enforcement of the Digital ECA child-protection law effective March 2026, which mandates age verification and stricter safeguards on platforms. Discord responded by rolling out Brazil-specific age-assurance tools, teen-default settings, and content filters since March, yet officials including First Lady Janja da Silva cite systemic failures in protecting adolescents. Traders are watching for court filings, potential compliance talks, or delays typical in such regulatory actions, amid similar past scrutiny over platform moderation and local legal representation.

This market will resolve to "Yes" if use of Discord is banned within Brazil through a nationwide, legally effective government or court order and such ban is publicly confirmed between market creation and the specified date, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No".
A legally-effective nationwide court order requiring either the temporary suspension of Discord’s activities in Brazil or a prohibition on Discord operating in Brazil will qualify as a ban for the purposes of this market, regardless of whether technical implementation of the order has been completed.
An order that is stayed, suspended, or overturned before taking legal effect will not qualify. If a qualifying order takes legal effect, a subsequent stay, suspension, or reversal will not affect the market's resolution.
The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from the Brazilian government, courts and Discord, however a consensus of credible reporting will also be used.
