Gold (XAUUSD) trades near $4,350–$4,400 per ounce following a rebound from multi-week lows after the Federal Reserve’s September 16 rate hike of 25 basis points to the 3.75–4.00% target range and signals of additional tightening. Traders are weighing the hawkish policy path—evident in rising Treasury yields and elevated odds of an October move—against falling crude prices that have eased near-term inflation pressures. Recent labor data showing lower jobless claims and resilient demand for precious metals have supported the recovery. Key near-term catalysts include the October FOMC meeting, fresh inflation releases, and developments in Middle East energy markets that could shift the balance between rate expectations and safe-haven flows.
