Recent forecast guidance from the National Weather Service and ensemble models supports highs in the low-to-mid 80s for New York City on September 9, driven by southerly flow advecting warmer air and partly cloudy skies that permit moderate insolation without excessive heating. This underpins the market’s heaviest weighting on the 84-85°F and 86-87°F outcomes. Key variables include the precise timing and coverage of afternoon clouds, boundary-layer mixing tied to wind speeds, and any late adjustments in guidance that could shift the daily maximum by a degree or two. Above the long-term average high near 79°F, the spread across bins reflects remaining uncertainty ahead of final observational data.
