AfD leads polls by wide margins in Saxony-Anhalt ahead of its September 6 vote, with support near 40 percent against roughly 23 percent for the CDU, positioning the party to secure the most seats and potentially an outright majority if smaller parties fall below the 5 percent threshold. In Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, recent surveys place AfD at 35-38 percent, ahead of the SPD, supporting expectations of another first-place finish on September 20. Berlin’s September 20 contest remains more fragmented, with AfD polling around 18 percent behind the CDU, Left, and Greens. These patterns align with trader consensus favoring AfD topping two of the three state parliaments, driven by sustained eastern support and limited coalition options for mainstream parties under the firewall policy.
