Recent July CPI data at 0.5% year-on-year, below expectations, reflected ongoing food price deflation, soft domestic demand, and moderating energy costs amid weak consumer spending and a prolonged property sector slump. Analysts anticipate a modest rebound for August to around 0.7%, driven by favorable base effects and seasonal increases in vegetable and pork prices, though core measures excluding food and energy remain subdued near 0.9%. Persistent drags from housing, rentals, and limited policy-driven lifts in services continue to cap upside, aligning trader consensus with the 0.5–0.8% range as the most probable outcomes ahead of the National Bureau of Statistics release.
