League for the 2027-28 season through their final standing in the J2 League, via playoff victory, or by any other official league decision recognized by the J2 League and Japan J. League. The primary resolution source will be official announcements from the J2 League and Japan J. League. A consensus of credible reporting may also be used.RB Omiya Ardija sits atop the early 2026-27 J2 standings with a perfect three wins after routing Consadole Sapporo, while Shonan Bellmare, Kataller Toyama, Tochigi City, Fujieda MYFC, Montedio Yamagata, Yokohama FC, and Albirex Niigata all sit within three points following the opening three rounds. Multiple former J1 sides bring substantial squad depth and experience to the promotion race, where the top two clubs earn automatic promotion and third through sixth contest playoffs for the final J1 spot. The fall-spring schedule runs through May 2027, making sustained form, injury management, and results against fellow promotion hopefuls decisive factors in the crowded table.
