Early in the 2026 Apertura, Liga FPD standings show tight competition after eight rounds, with Deportivo Saprissa atop the table on strong recent form and goal difference while Cartaginés, Inter de San Carlos, and Alajuelense sit close behind. Mid-table sides like Sporting San José and San Carlos have posted competitive results, and even lower-placed clubs such as Pérez Zeledón and Herediano retain realistic paths through the playoff structure. Joel Campbell’s contributions at Inter de San Carlos highlight individual impacts amid roster adjustments. This balance of current form, historical pedigree among traditional powers, and the split-season format with postseason qualification keeps implied probabilities clustered, reflecting broad trader consensus on an open title race.
