Recent midweek forecasts highlight a tight race for the Billboard Hot 100’s #2 spot the week of August 22, driven by Ariana Grande’s new album *Petal* generating strong streaming debuts for tracks like “hate that i made you love me” and the title song, while country powerhouses maintain momentum. Ella Langley’s “Choosin’ Texas” and “Be Her,” Morgan Wallen’s “Been By Now,” Taylor Swift’s “I Knew It, I Knew You,” and Olivia Rodrigo’s “Drop Dead” benefit from sustained radio airplay, catalog streams, and fan engagement in a genre that has dominated recent charts. The close market-implied odds reflect competing release strategies—fresh pop debuts versus established country holds—plus weekly fluctuations in sales and platform data that can shift positions before the final tracking period closes.
