The 2026-27 NB I season opened in late July with defending champions Győri ETO FC, Ferencvárosi TC, and Paksi SE widely viewed as the strongest contenders based on recent form and squad continuity. Early results have produced a fluid table, with Puskás Akadémia FC topping the standings after five matches while Győri and Ferencváros sit lower amid mixed results and limited fixtures played. Multiple mid-table sides, including MTK Budapest, Újpest FC, and Debreceni VSC, retain realistic paths to second place given the league’s triple round-robin format and potential for swings driven by injuries, European commitments, or late momentum shifts. Trader consensus reflected in the tightly bunched probabilities underscores the absence of a clear runner-up favorite at this early stage.
