AfD holds a commanding lead in pre-election polling for the September 6 Landtag election in Sachsen-Anhalt, consistently placing it 15–20 points ahead of the CDU and well above all other parties. This positioning stems from sustained gains since the 2021 vote, driven by voter priorities on immigration and economic issues in the eastern state, alongside the AfD’s selection of Ulrich Siegmund as lead candidate. The incumbent CDU–SPD–FDP coalition under Sven Schulze faces headwinds from the party’s long tenure and recent leadership transition. Other parties maintain a firewall against cooperation with the AfD, classified as far-right extremist by authorities, yet this has not narrowed the gap in surveys. Trader consensus prices AfD as the decisive winner at near-certainty levels, with only an unprecedented late swing or turnout anomaly likely to alter the outcome before polls close.
