Recent polling for New Zealand’s November 2026 general election under the MMP system shows the two major parties locked in a tight race, with National and Labour each hovering near 30 percent support and smaller parties trailing. This positioning drives trader consensus that National or Labour will occupy the top two spots in party vote share. National holds a modest edge in the 2nd-place market, consistent with mixed recent surveys where Labour has occasionally led or where National’s coalition partners draw enough support to influence overall rankings. Key recent catalysts include National’s policy announcements on referenda and fiscal rules, Labour’s small-business initiatives, and internal government stability tests, all occurring amid cost-of-living and economic concerns that keep the contest competitive. Minor parties remain well below thresholds that would alter the major-party ordering.
