Persistent rain and extensive cloud cover forecast for Tokyo on September 20 are the main drivers positioning 23°C and 24°C as the leading market outcomes, with combined implied probability near 80%. Official guidance from the Japan Meteorological Agency and ensemble models indicate a stationary front and northerly flow maintaining overcast skies and high humidity, limiting daytime heating and keeping maximum temperatures below the seasonal average of about 26°C. Recent model runs show strong agreement on these conditions through the weekend, with only minor uncertainty around exact peak values depending on rainfall timing and intensity. Traders appear to weigh the high precipitation probabilities and suppressed insolation as favoring the narrow 23–24°C range over warmer or cooler alternatives.
