Official measurements from the National Weather Service confirmed a daily maximum of 88–89 °F at Denver’s primary reporting station on September 16, locking in the market’s near-certain outcome for that narrow range. Forecasters had anticipated a modest warming trend under mostly sunny skies with light southwesterly flow, consistent with late-summer climatology that places the long-term normal high near 79 °F; the observed reading exceeded this baseline by roughly 9–10 °F without triggering any record thresholds. Because the market resolves strictly on the verified NWS maximum, alternative outcomes such as model-driven forecasts or unofficial readings carry negligible weight once the official value is posted. Only an unlikely post-publication correction or change in station reference could reopen the result, an event that has not occurred in recent comparable cases.
