This market will resolve according to the individual who leads the next White House press briefing following the creation of this market. Resolution is based on who actually delivers the briefing from the podium, not on who is listed or announced in advance. If the individual scheduled or announced to give a briefing does not ultimately lead it, this market will resolve to the individual who does. An individual who appears at a qualifying briefing only as a guest, or who speaks only after being introduced by the individual leading the briefing, will not qualify. For the purposes of this market, a White House press briefing is an event listed on the public White House schedule as a press briefing. Any such briefing will qualify, even if the individual leading it has not been formally announced as the Press Secretary or as an acting or interim Press Secretary. "New Media" briefings and special briefings including additional guests will qualify, so long as the individual leads the briefing. Impromptu press gaggles, and remarks that are not listed on the public schedule as a press briefing, will not qualify. If two or more individuals jointly lead the next qualifying briefing, this market will resolve to the individual who speaks first. If no qualifying White House press briefing occurs by September 30, 2026, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to "Other". This market will resolve based on footage of the briefing, as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. The vacancy in the White House press secretary role following Karoline Leavitt’s departure at the end of August has produced a fluid schedule for briefings, with cabinet officials and senior aides filling in on an ad hoc basis. Recent examples include Vice President JD Vance addressing the press on September 3 amid ongoing foreign policy developments, while President Trump’s travel schedule has limited standard podium appearances. Trader consensus across dozens of named options at or near 50% reflects this lack of a designated successor and the administration’s pattern of rotating spokespeople rather than committing to one individual for the next session. Potential catalysts for separation include an official announcement naming a permanent replacement, a scheduled briefing tied to a major policy rollout, or continued reliance on figures such as Secretary of State Marco Rubio or other communications staff depending on timing and topic.
