Damon Heta enters the New Zealand Darts Masters opener as the clear favorite at 64.5% implied probability due to his established PDC ranking near the top 20 and consistent experience against elite opposition. The Australian has posted strong recent Players Championship averages near 90-98 while reaching multiple finals in 2026, despite some early exits and inconsistent streaks earlier in the year. In contrast, Ben Robb, a leading WDF-ranked New Zealander with solid domestic results, lacks equivalent PDC exposure and typically competes at lower-tier Challenge Tour events with career averages around 86. Head-to-head history is limited, but the stylistic and competitive gap favors Heta's superior finishing and scoring pace on the World Series stage. No injury concerns have surfaced for either player ahead of the August 14 clash.
