Yordan Alvarez holds the top position in the 2026 MLB batting average race at .321 through roughly 120 games, driven by a combination of high contact rates, extra-base power, and consistent plate discipline that has kept him ahead of the field. Luis Arraez sits second near .316, relying on his trademark elite contact skills and low strikeout totals, though he trails by several points with limited time remaining to close the gap. Otto Lopez and a handful of others hover around .308, reflecting solid but less dominant recent form. Trader consensus reflects Alvarez's sustained edge in average and on-base metrics, tempered by the possibility of late-season adjustments or injury impacts in the final stretch.
