Recent strength in US nonfarm payrolls, with August adding 162,000 jobs versus expectations near 56,000, has reinforced trader focus on potential Federal Reserve tightening at the September FOMC meeting. Persistent inflation pressures from tariffs, elevated energy prices tied to Middle East developments, and AI-related demand continue to support higher Treasury yields and the dollar, even as some July CPI and PPI readings showed modest cooling. The DXY has traded near 99.16–99.18 in early September after earlier highs above 101, with upcoming CPI data and central bank communications serving as immediate catalysts that could shift implied rate paths and currency flows. Market-implied odds reflect ongoing uncertainty around the policy outlook.
