This market will resolve to "Yes" if Iran publicly agrees to end all enrichment of uranium by December 31, 2026, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to “No”. An official pledge by Iran to end all enrichment of Uranium will qualify for a “Yes” resolution whether as a unilateral announcement or part of an agreement with the U.S. or Israel. Any agreement or pledge made before the resolution date of this market will qualify, regardless of if/when the agreement goes into effect. An agreement by Iran to end all enrichment of uranium for any amount of time will count. An agreement by Iran to end all enrichment of uranium as a precondition of a more comprehensive peace process or deal will qualify, even if the agreement is not finalized or part of a formalized peace deal. Agreements to merely limit or cap the level or quality of enrichment—such as reducing enrichment to below weapons-grade thresholds—will not qualify. The primary resolution source for this market will be a consensus of credible reporting. **Recent diplomatic efforts underscore persistent obstacles to any near-term commitment.** A June 2026 U.S.-Iran memorandum of understanding, reached after months of conflict and strikes on Iranian nuclear sites, paused hostilities and reopened the Strait of Hormuz while deferring core nuclear issues to 60-day follow-on negotiations. Under the MOU, Iran reaffirmed it would neither produce nor acquire nuclear weapons, maintain the status quo by refraining from further uranium enrichment or facility expansion, and address stockpile dilution under IAEA oversight in a final accord. Those talks, however, center on deep disagreements over enrichment rights, verification, and stockpile handling, with Iran historically rejecting permanent zero-enrichment demands and the United States pressing for strict limits. As of mid-August 2026, no final agreement has emerged, IAEA monitoring remains constrained following prior strikes, and Iran’s enriched uranium stockpile (including significant 60% material) persists amid reports of reconstruction activity at affected sites. These factors—combined with Iran’s longstanding position that enrichment is a sovereign right under the NPT—have led traders to assign only an 10.5% implied probability that Tehran will formally agree to end enrichment by December 31, 2026. Upcoming negotiation rounds or IAEA reports could still shift positioning if they produce concrete concessions.
