Recent National Weather Service and model consensus point to a high of 77–78°F in Chicago on September 6, driven by a cooler northeast flow off Lake Michigan that has replaced the hot, southerly air mass responsible for 91–96°F readings earlier in the week. Mostly sunny skies and light winds are expected to limit daytime heating while the lake breeze keeps temperatures near or slightly below the 79.6°F climatological normal. Trader positioning favoring the 78–79°F bin reflects this stable forecast and low probability of significant model shifts before resolution, with only modest upside risk if onshore flow weakens.
