The US Dollar Index (DXY) has traded near 99.0 early in the week of August 24, 2026, after posting three consecutive weekly declines amid softening US data. Recent July CPI, PPI, and labor reports have tempered inflation expectations and reinforced bets on Federal Reserve easing, while Treasury bond buyback expansions have added downward pressure on yields and the greenback. Traders are monitoring this week's releases, including core PCE inflation and regional Fed manufacturing indices, alongside speeches from officials such as Richmond Fed President Barkin, for signals on the pace of monetary policy shifts. Geopolitical safe-haven flows have provided limited support, leaving DXY vulnerable to further downside if data continues to surprise to the soft side.
