Older women voters remain a closely contested demographic ahead of the 2026 midterms, with Democrats holding a slim 48% implied probability edge over Republicans at 47.5% in the market. Recent generic ballot polling shows this group splitting nearly evenly on congressional preferences, as economic concerns, inflation, and entitlement issues like Social Security and Medicare weigh heavily on turnout and choice. Broader gender gaps favor Democrats among women overall, yet older cohorts exhibit greater volatility, with some surveys indicating modest Republican strength among seniors offset by softening support tied to household finances. Key upcoming catalysts include further economic data releases and candidate messaging on cost-of-living pressures that could shift voter blocs in either direction before November.
