United Russia maintains a commanding position ahead of the September 18–20, 2026, State Duma elections due to its control of candidate registration, single-member district advantages, and alignment with the presidential administration in a tightly managed electoral system. Recent developments, including the Supreme Court’s August annulment of Yabloko’s party list, party congresses nominating figures such as Sergei Lavrov and war veterans, and the exclusion of non-systemic challengers, have further narrowed the field among the 11 registered parties. Polling shows United Russia leading but facing headwinds from war fatigue and economic concerns, while New People trails as the next systemic option. Trader probabilities reflect these institutional barriers and the mixed proportional-plurality framework that historically amplifies the ruling party’s seat share.
