Sustained polling dominance by the AfD ahead of the September 6 Landtag election underpins the market's near-certain pricing for that party as the leading force. Recent surveys from Forschungsgruppe Wahlen, INSA, and Infratest dimap show the AfD holding 41-43 percent support—roughly double its 2021 share—while the CDU trails at 22-23 percent amid broader eastern German voter concerns over immigration, economic conditions, and state governance. The incumbent CDU-SPD-FDP coalition has seen support erode without major recent reversals. With the election one day away, scenarios that could still alter the outcome include unusually high turnout among smaller-party voters clearing the five-percent threshold or unexpected late shifts in preference, though consistent multi-week data make an AfD plurality the overwhelming trader consensus reflected in current prices.
