Official forecasts from the National Weather Service place Houston's high near 92–93°F on September 17 under partly sunny skies with a 40–50% chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms. Persistent high humidity from Gulf moisture, light easterly flow, and urban heat retention support readings in the low-to-mid 90s, though scattered convection could limit peak warming if storms develop before mid-afternoon. Recent model consensus and surface observations show temperatures tracking close to seasonal norms slightly above the long-term average high near 89°F. Market-implied odds favor 90–91°F as the most probable outcome, reflecting trader assessment of modest cooling potential from clouds and rain versus the risk of clearer skies allowing a push into the mid-90s. Updated NWS guidance and real-time observations through the afternoon will refine these probabilities.
