Recent polls for the September 20, 2026, Berlin state election place the CDU at 18–20% while the SPD trails at 12–15%, behind Die Linke, the AfD, and the Greens. This gap aligns with the SPD’s broader weakness after losses in other 2026 state votes and national coalition strains. The CDU, governing in a coalition with the SPD and now led by replacement candidate Stefan Evers, benefits from modest polling gains and its status as the stronger center-right option. No late surge has narrowed the consistent CDU advantage in voter intention surveys. Trader consensus therefore reflects the durable polling differential and limited remaining time for the SPD to close the gap before election day.
