Romania's ongoing political crisis, triggered by the May 2026 no-confidence vote that ousted Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, continues to shape trader views on the timing of the next confirmed appointment. President Nicușor Dan has conducted multiple rounds of consultations with parliamentary parties, including fresh talks scheduled around September 1, 2026, after earlier nominees Eugen Tomac and Adrian Veștea failed to secure the required 233 votes. Parties remain divided between center-right options and a potential PSD-led minority government under Sorin Grindeanu, but all major actors share strong incentives to reach a deal and avoid snap elections that could empower the leading hard-right AUR party. This institutional pressure, combined with the constitutional timeline allowing Dan additional nomination attempts before dissolution becomes viable, underpins the market's strong consensus on resolution by year-end.
