Close between zero and one reflects limited visibility of openly gay vice-governor contenders heading into Brazil’s October 2026 state races. Ticket-building conventions and alliances across 27 states plus the Federal District have so far produced few confirmed LGBTQ+ picks for the second slot, with most major slates favoring established political operators over cultural trailblazers. Historical patterns of underrepresentation, combined with conservative strongholds in much of the country, keep the two-plus outcome at just 3 percent. Traders appear to weigh the possibility of one breakthrough candidacy—perhaps from a high-profile coalition—against the broader lack of momentum or media focus on such selections before final filings lock in.
