Nakamura's unmatched historical win count and consistent recent form in similar speed events contrast with Carlsen's strong showings when participating, yet weekly results demonstrate high variance as multiple grandmasters like Alireza Firouzja, Aleksei Sarana, and Jan-Krzysztof Duda rotate victories in the 11-round Swiss. The 5+0 time control rewards sharp calculation and resilience across the field, preventing any single player from commanding dominant odds despite superior ratings or experience.
