**An ongoing New York City investigation into the July 7, 2026, buckling of support columns at the former Pfizer headquarters during its office-to-residential conversion has not yet produced criminal charges.** Multiple missing or inadequate steel reinforcement plates on the affected columns and at least eight others contributed to the structural failure, prompting evacuations, a stop-work order, and a third-party forensic review ordered by the Department of Buildings. The Department of Investigation is examining the incident alongside law enforcement partners, but probes of this type typically focus first on civil violations, fines, and administrative actions rather than criminal prosecution. With no fatalities and construction halted since July, the timeline for any charging decisions extends well beyond December, supporting traders' 78.5% implied probability that no criminal charges will be filed by year-end.
