Georgia’s 2026 lieutenant governor race features an open seat after incumbent Burt Jones pursued the governorship. Republican nominee Greg Dolezal, a state senator from Forsyth County, secured his party’s nomination in the June runoff and emphasizes election integrity, school choice, and conservative priorities. Democratic nominee Josh McLaurin, a state senator from north Fulton County, won his runoff by highlighting affordability, Medicaid expansion, and bipartisan legislative experience. A July statewide poll showed McLaurin narrowly ahead, yet prediction market pricing reflects trader assessment of Georgia’s recent Republican performance in statewide contests and the structural advantages of the GOP nominee heading into the November 3 general election. Upcoming campaign events and any shifts in voter turnout patterns could still influence the outcome.
