Recent trader positioning in the USD/JPY end-2026 market reflects the persistent but narrowing US-Japan interest rate differential, with the Federal Reserve holding its target range at 3.50–3.75% amid firm inflation and labor data while the Bank of Japan has lifted its policy rate to 1.00% following its June 2026 hike. Coordinated intervention signals and expectations for additional BoJ tightening this fall have supported recent yen strength, pushing the spot rate near 156 and anchoring the highest implied probability in the 150–160 band. Market-implied odds favor this range over deeper yen appreciation or renewed dollar strength, consistent with consensus forecasts clustering around 156–160 by year-end, though upcoming US CPI, employment releases, and BoJ communications remain key swing factors.
