This hawkish tilt contrasts with robust S&P 500 earnings momentum, where second-quarter beats exceeded 85% of estimates and full-year EPS growth forecasts exceed 25%, driven by AI infrastructure spending at hyperscalers. At current levels near 7,657, analyst year-end 2026 targets cluster between 7,800 and 8,100, reflecting earnings resilience amid sticky inflation and geopolitical energy risks. Traders will monitor the September CPI release and Fed communications for shifts in the implied policy path that could influence equity multiples through year-end.
