Gold (XAU/USD) trades near $4,430–$4,480 per ounce in early September 2026 after rebounding from a weekly low near $4,280, supported by softer U.S. Treasury yields and reduced odds of an immediate Federal Reserve rate hike. Recent strength stems from central bank accumulation, Middle East geopolitical tensions, and resilient ETF inflows, though a stronger-than-expected August nonfarm payrolls report and sticky inflation readings have kept markets pricing a roughly even chance of tighter policy at the September FOMC. Key upcoming releases including CPI and PPI will shape near-term rate expectations and dollar strength, both inverse drivers of gold, while the metal consolidates below the 200-day moving average near $4,530 amid elevated volatility.
