Recent opinion polls in Saxony-Anhalt ahead of the September 6 Landtag election show the SPD holding a consistent though narrow lead over the BSW, with the Social Democrats at 6-7% and the BSW at 4-5%. This positioning reflects the SPD’s established regional presence and the BSW’s challenges as a newer formation competing for similar left-leaning voters near the 5% entry threshold. Tactical voting initiatives aimed at smaller parties have not materially altered the relative gap. Traders’ strong consensus for an SPD plurality of second votes aligns with this polling stability and the absence of late shifts favoring the BSW.
