Official National Weather Service forecasts for Chicago on September 14 project a high near 73°F under increasing clouds with southeast winds strengthening to 10-15 mph, consistent with model consensus showing limited daytime heating. This positions the 72-73°F outcome as the clear leader in market-implied odds, reflecting traders' assessment of stable synoptic conditions and below-average temperatures relative to the 1991-2020 climatological mean high of 76.7°F. Recent model runs have shown minimal shifts, with cloud cover and onshore flow expected to cap peaks in the low-to-mid 70s rather than allowing stronger warming. Key resolution hinges on the official daily maximum recorded at primary stations, with any last-minute forecast adjustments from afternoon observations likely to influence final probabilities.
