**The municipal elections in České Budějovice on October 9–10, 2026, will determine the 45-member city council, which then elects the mayor through coalition negotiations rather than direct popular vote.** With candidate lists finalized by early August and no dominant frontrunner, trader probabilities remain tightly clustered because multiple parties hold realistic paths to the largest bloc or kingmaker status. Tomáš Chovanec leads the combined Občané pro Budějovice (HOPB) and STAN list, emphasizing housing, transport, and transparent governance after recent opposition experience. Ondřej Talíř heads the Společně pro Budějovice coalition (KDU-ČSL/TOP 09), Jan Teplý leads ODS, Dagmar Škodová Parmová heads Naše Česko, and Pavel Tůma represents the Pirates. ANO and other groups add further fragmentation. Recent local developments, including coalition shifts earlier in 2026 and party realignments such as HOPB’s leadership transition and ODS’s refreshed candidate slate, have kept the field competitive without clear momentum for any single contender. Low liquidity on many listed outcomes and the 50% “Other” level underscore uncertainty over final coalition arithmetic in a council where no party is expected to secure a majority outright. Upcoming campaign events and any late polling or alliance signals before election day could shift implied probabilities by clarifying which leaders are best positioned for post-vote negotiations.
