Defending champion Carlos Alcaraz returns after four months sidelined by a right wrist injury without any warm-up matches, creating uncertainty around his match fitness despite strong historical results at Flushing Meadows. Alexander Zverev enters as the top seed with momentum from a French Open title and recent Grand Slam final appearances, while Novak Djokovic brings veteran experience and five prior US Open titles. American players such as Ben Shelton and Taylor Fritz gain added opportunity in the absence of their frequent rival, with recent form and hard-court records likely influencing paths to the final.
