Canada's monthly GDP advance estimate from Statistics Canada indicated essentially flat output in July 2026, following a 0.3% gain in June, with gains in real estate, rental and leasing, and professional services offset by declines in retail trade and manufacturing. This preliminary reading aligns closely with the market's heaviest weighting on the 0.0–0.1% outcome range, reflecting trader consensus around the flash data ahead of the official September 29 release. Broader context includes robust 0.8% quarterly GDP growth in Q2, driven by exports and domestic demand, though July trade data showed a narrowing surplus amid softer energy shipments, tempering expectations for sustained momentum into Q3 amid ongoing tariff uncertainties.
