If multiple teams are declared as second-place finishers, this market will resolve in favor of the team whose listed name comes first alphabetically. If this event is cancelled, postponed after July 31, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, or a runner-up has not been declared within this timeframe, this market will resolve to "Other". The resolution source will be official information from the 2. Bundesliga; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used. The 2026-27 2. Bundesliga campaign opened on August 7 with an unusually deep field for the automatic promotion spots, as multiple clubs enter with comparable resources and recent pedigree. Relegated sides including VfL Wolfsburg bring Bundesliga-level infrastructure and squad depth after their 29-year top-flight stay ended, while Hannover 96, 1. FC Nürnberg, Hertha BSC, SV Darmstadt 98, and 1. FC Heidenheim carry strong recent promotion pushes or near-misses from prior seasons. Upward momentum from teams such as Energie Cottbus, Eintracht Braunschweig, and Karlsruher SC adds further parity, reinforced by stable coaching setups and targeted summer reinforcements. After the opening matchday, early results have produced a spread of winners rather than any runaway leader, underscoring how evenly matched the promotion contenders remain heading into a 34-match schedule.
