The 10-team league relegates only the lowest aggregate finisher across both tournaments, amplifying uncertainty after just seven or eight rounds. Recent results show Saprissa and Cartaginés pulling ahead while Herediano and Escorpiones sit near the bottom, yet mid-table sides like Alajuelense and San Carlos retain strong historical depth and fixture flexibility.
